A gifted teacher, author, consultant, speaker and trainer, Dr. Brown has dedicated his life’s mission to helping others overcome the major stumbling blocks of life through self-motivation and self-improvement. He will share his inspiring story on September 1.

Mark Pruett, associate professor of management at the George Dean Johnson, Jr. College of Business and Economics, says he is pleased to see some credit card rules changing but warns consumers there may be more fees in the future.

Math teachers from first through sixth grades from Sumter school districts 2 and 17 spent two weeks on the University of South Carolina Sumter campus participating in a summer math camp called Unveiling Mathematics Standards. Marilyn Izzard, USC Upstate's director of the teacher education program located on the USC Sumter campus, says the teachers are learning innovative methods for teaching math.

The Shoestring Players will stage this classic American play by playwright Thornton Wilder, who artfully manipulates time and place and relates the here-and-now of a small, New England village to the timeless concerns of all humankind.
